Theo Von

Podcaster who built a huge audience through long-form interviews

Rejected. It isn’t going to the Arctic.

“Second most-streamed podcast in America in 2025. First place is already in the Ark.”

Why Noah said no

Theo Von turned Louisiana childhood stories into This Past Weekend, Spotify's second biggest US podcast in 2025, and had Trump on in 2024. The Joe Rogan Experience already covers comedians' long podcasts reaching the White House, and it's the show he came second to.

What it is

Theo Von is an American stand-up comedian and podcaster who has hosted This Past Weekend since 2016, a long-form interview show that became one of Spotify's most-streamed podcasts. He built his following by having lengthy, unstructured conversations with guests and talking about his own life, often referencing his childhood in Louisiana and his experiences on MTV reality shows in the early 2000s.

Why it’s internet culture

Von represents how podcasting became the main way comedians and personalities reach audiences outside traditional media, and how long-form conversation replaced shorter comedy formats as the dominant online comedy medium. His success showed that people online wanted to hear someone talk for hours rather than polished stand-up sets.

Theo Von's show is one of the long, loose comedian podcasts that millions of people played for hours each week. In 2024 that audience was big enough for Trump to court it during his campaign.
