Pump.fun
Platform to create and trade memecoins instantly on Solana
Rejected. It isn’t going to the Arctic.
“Six million coins in a year, each made from a JPEG and a ticker for under $2.”
Why Noah said no
Pump.fun is the 2024 site where anyone could launch a memecoin in seconds, and Fartcoin started there. The Meme coin entry already covers that frenzy, and the Ark has six crypto entries already, while it still has no dating apps.

What it is
Pump.fun launched in January 2024 as a Solana blockchain platform where anyone could create a memecoin for free and trade it immediately. Over six million coins were launched within its first year, most with no real utility beyond speculation. The platform took a 1% fee on trades and made nearly $800 million in revenue.
Why it’s internet culture
It shows how easily people could create worthless coins and how willing others were to buy them on the promise of getting rich quick. The platform enabled widespread fraud including rug pulls, minors making money off coins they created, and livestreamed pitches designed to manipulate investors, revealing both the speed at which new financial infrastructure could be built on crypto and how little protection existed for people trading on it.
Pump.fun let anyone mint a memecoin from a picture and a ticker for under $2, and over six million were made in a year. Creators livestreamed stunts to pump their coins, and when a 13-year-old dumped his, traders pumped it in revenge and doxxed him.

The platform was launched on January 19, 2024, by Noah Tweedale, Alon Cohen and Dylan Kerler. As of January 2025, over 6 million meme coins had been launched on the platform according to Wired and it is one of the fastest-growing crypto applications ever according to some metrics by Ars Technica. Bloomberg reported in June 2025 that pump.fun is "one of the biggest drivers of the explosive growth in memecoins and the attendant burst in activity on the Solana blockchain in the past year." In Q1 2026, pump.fun's decentralized exchange volume exceeded $2 billion, signaling a continued surge in Solana meme coin activity. The site has been described as the "ground zero" for launching meme coins, with users able to instantly create coins for free. While any type of token can be created, the majority of tokens are classified as meme coins due to their lack of functionality outside of trading. Created tokens face a high failure ra…
