H3 Podcast
Long-form interview show on YouTube that defined modern podcast culture
Rejected. It isn’t going to the Arctic.
“Frenemies lasted 39 episodes before Ethan Klein and Trisha Paytas fell out over who owned it.”
Why Noah said no
Ethan Klein's YouTube show ran from 2016 until his split from Hila in 2026, and its best-known stretch was Frenemies with Trisha Paytas falling out on air. The podcast cluster is full with Call Her Daddy and Serial, and h3h3Productions' 2017 fair use win would explain more than the podcast does.

What it is
The H3 Podcast was a live comedy and interview show hosted by Ethan Klein on YouTube from 2016 onwards. Episodes featured conversations with internet personalities like PewDiePie and Post Malone, and the show became one of the 100 most downloaded podcasts by 2023. It ran multiple formats including a members-only show and spun off into other series like Frenemies with Trisha Paytas.
Why it’s internet culture
The show exemplified how YouTube became the primary platform for long-form podcast content instead of traditional podcast apps, and how parasocial relationships with internet creators drove viewership and fan investment. It also demonstrates how publicly unravelling friendships and personal drama between creators became content themselves, keeping audiences engaged through conflict and instability.
H3 shows YouTube taking over from podcast apps as the place people watched long talk shows, and fans following the hosts' friendships, fallouts and marriage as if they were the show.
